The original Beauty Blender. Is it worth the hype?!

For a tiny sponge, it seems like it carries a pretty hefty price tag. Yet every beauty blogger/vlogger and their dog swears this is their holy grail make-up product. For months and months I refused to give into this hype and opted for (much) cheaper make-up sponges. But after seeing bloggers and YouTubers who were also dubious about this so called beauty “game changer” invest in one and then say they could never use any other sponge again, it was safe to say I was very curious! I needed to give it a try!

I was lucky enough to receive on for my birthday and it’s safe to say I was super excited to give it a go. My first impression was that it was much smaller and lighter than the previous sponges I have tried. However, when you wet the sponge it expands SO much more than any others. (For those of you who don’t know, it is really easy to use: you wet it, squeeze until damp and then bounce the make-up onto your skin.) Genuinely, my make-up has never looked so flawless! As it is so lightweight, it feels so gentle when bouncing make-up onto my face. The “egg” shape makes the application of make-up really smooth and clean and the pointed tip is perfect for more accurate places such as under eye concealer. I’ve tried to use a different brand of sponge since using the Beauty Blender and it literally felt like I was hitting my face with a rock! It was so dense and hard in comparison. I also noticed I was using a lot less product with the Beauty Blender. The material is designed to ensure that make-up sits on top of the sponge and is not absorbed. So not only will this mean less make-up wastage, but it will also be a lot easier to clean (I know mine doesn’t look that clean, but I promise it is… it’s just well loved).

So yes, it is worth the hype! I’m fully on the Beauty Blender bandwagon. It is a little pricier than I would like, but I honestly don’t think I could use any other make-up sponge again. Let me know what you think of it!

It’s all I use for foundation now! I can never go back to using a foundation brush!
