The Gypsy Shrine Glitter
I know festival season is starting to quieten down, but (even if the weather doesn’t suggest it) summer isn’t JUST yet over. So before you start waking on the sweatshirts and buying pumpkin spiced lattes, there are a still more exciting events coming up. This glitter is a must if you want to instantly look “festival ready” or in my case “Ibiza ready” (I’m going in a few weeks and cannot contain my excitement!). You’ve probably seen them by now all over social media or on Love Island where they made the contestants look like fabulous glitter balls. The Gypsy Shrine have EVERYTHING sparkling and shining you could every want: face/hair/body glitter and jewels in a huge variety of colours. They even have “boob jewels” if you are willing to bare a little more! I opted for Unicorn Dreams glitter which is a gorgeous iridescent glitter (with the cutest name of all time). So if you see a more glittery me on my Instagram page, it will be all thanks to The Gypsy Shrine.
Lush Jelly Bombs, £4.95
So we’ve all used (or seen the hype and endless Instagram pics) of Lush bath bombs. However, the new JELLY bombs have taken bath time to a whole other level! From first appearance, they look like normal bath bombs with the outer texture feeling the same. But, the sodium alginate from a mineral rich seaweed (science talk for the stuff which gives it the jelly consistency) gives your bath a layer of gooey goodness! The jelly texture is feels really softening on the skin as well as feeling refreshing. The jelly melts away (for the main part) and you are left with the beautiful colours and scents to enjoy in the water. There are four different jelly bombs available. Dark Arts is one for Harry Potter fans: the mystical black and grey colours take bathing to a magical world. The Big Sleep has lavender and chamomile in this blue beauty helping you to relax before bed. Green Coconut has actual coconut cream which will leave your skin feeling fabulous and finally Marmalade is super uplifting with Brazilian orange oil and real orange pieces inside. Bath time just got a little more exciting.
invisibobble Original
I know I’m a little late to the party with this one but IF you don’t know, these are traceless hair rings or in simple terms plastic hairbands which prevent you from getting kinks in your hair. I was sceptical at first as I was unsure if they would be able to firmly hold my hair in place, having quite thick hair. But they are surprisingly strong and durable. I opted for the original brand as I saw them on half price in Topshop. These little inventions are perfect to getting my hair out of my face (like when I want to eat, let’s be honest) without putting kinks in my hair.
Eat Well Snacks
I’m one of those annoying people who say they are so hungry, and then when they get a huge meal, are unable to finish it. Only to say they are hungry twenty minutes later. Snacks are therefore essential for preventing a hangry Marcella, and trust me, it’s not pretty. If you are a savoury person like me, crisps are a quick and easy snack to fulfil that craving. However, they aren’t particularly good for you. Then I discovered these delicious snacks from Eat Well. They have a great variety of savoury crisp-like alternatives. And honestly, I actually prefer these to crisps. They are made from natural ingredients with “no added nasties” and have a lot less fat and saturated fat than a bag of crisps. The Hummus Chips and Veggie Straws are my absolute favs, but they also have a delicious range of Quiona Chips and Puffs and Lentil Chips. These all come in a variety of tasty flavours too depending on what you fancy. They are all vegan and some are also gluten free. They are available from most supermarkets but their selection may vary, so keep you eyes peeled wherever you go so you can find you favs.
The Girl on the Train (novel)
I’m still slightly gutted I saw the film before I read the book, as although I definitely enjoyed the film, the book is soooo much better (as is usually the case). So if you haven’t seen the film make sure you read the book first! Paula Hawkin’s psychological thriller follows the accounts of three women. Rachel sees something on her daily commute which changes everything and through many twists, turns and shocks, the story unfolds. I think I read it in 3 or 4 days as I was totally hooked. If you like an intense page turner, I’d definitely recommend giving it a read.
American Crime Story: The People v. OJ Simpson
I have a huge interest in crime stories and murder cases (morbid as that may sounds) so I’m always on the look out for a gripping series or documentary to watch. This series is a drama based on the OJ Simpson trail, and oh my, I was ADDICTED. I literally watched the 10 episode series in a week (I know, I need to get out more). There is an incredible cast including Sarah Paulson (who I’ve loved since AHS), John Travolta and David Schwimmer. It’s currently on Netflix, so if you are in need of a new series to binge on, give it a watch.
