I visited Cyprus when I was 16 as we had some friends who lived there. I was instantly mesmerised by its beauty and have been desperate to re-visit ever since. So I was super excited when I received an invitation to the Rose Water Event with Visit Cyprus to celebrate the Rose Water Festival.
The Rose Water Festival takes place each year in May, lasting two weekends in the rural village of Argos. The festival includes workshops to learn about the distillation of roses, a rose exhibition, folk dance and music performances as well as the opportunity to buy traditional products (which would probs be my fav bit as this girl likes to shop).
Roses really do seem to be the flower of love. Not only do I marvel at them in their true form, but I’m also a huge fan of rose oil and rose water in beauty products. I use my Lush Eau Roma Toner Water on a daily basis, which is full of the beautiful stuff. And who doesn’t love a rose face mask?!
I am also totally drawn to rose scented fragrances (having owned a fair few over the years), especially during the spring and summer.
I was excited to find out more about the benefits and uses of these gorgeous flowers, not only in beauty products, but also in food, drink and in their original form.
10 reasons to use rose oil:
- skin glow
- face and body mist
No rose tinted glasses were needed to make this night beautiful. From flower arranging with Rebel Rebel, manicures and rose inspired nail art with Shoreditch Nails, to enjoying the rose infused food and drinks whilst chatting to all the other lovely girls at the event, it was a fab evening from start to finish. The rose inspired bellinis and mojitos were a particular highlight. I KNOW, SHOCK HORROR, MARCELLA LOVES A COCKTAIL.
It should also be noted that rose petal infused cocktails make for the prettiest, most instagrammable drinks EVER.
Although I will definitely never be a florist as my (lack of) skills demonstrated, I have fallen even more in love with the beauty of roses and all that they can do. I love the way these beautiful flowers are simple and delicate but also rather luxurious and so cleverly multi-functional. Cyprus’s Rose Festival has firmly made its way onto my travel bucket list and has made me even more eager to further explore the country and get fully immersed in the culture.
I had a wonderful time at the Rose Water event with Visit Cyprus, and would also like to thank the LOVELY people at Rooster PR for making the night so special and enjoyable.
Consider taking time to smell the roses by visiting The Rose Water Festival and Cyprus.
